In a major step toward securing Africa’s digital retail ecosystem, Tribease, the SME retail solutions platform empowering entrepreneurs to set up and scale physical retail outlets, has partnered with UK-based cybersecurity firm CoreDefense to overhaul its cyber-defence posture and mitigate rising online threats.

Tribease, often described as Africa’s first “retail-as-a-service” platform, connects small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with vendors, financiers, and business solution providers. As its merchant base and transaction volumes have surged, safeguarding sensitive payment data and vendor APIs has become business-critical.

To address these challenges, Tribease adopted the CoreDefense AI Platform, an explainable intelligence system that automates vulnerability discovery, threat prioritisation, and risk reporting. CoreDefense’s technology uses AI-driven analytics integrated with tools such as Tenable and ServiceNow to give security and leadership teams end-to-end visibility across both cloud and on-premise assets.

Within weeks of deployment, Tribease achieved a 98 percent reduction in critical vulnerabilities and established continuous monitoring aligned with ISO 27001 and NIST CSF frameworks. The initiative also improved Tribease’s investor and regulatory confidence by embedding measurable cybersecurity KPIs into executive dashboards.

“Our growth depends on trust that our platform and payment ecosystem remain secure,” said Moses Omuetha, CEO of Tribease. “Partnering with CoreDefense has allowed us to implement global-grade cyber controls while continuing to scale our mission of empowering African retailers.”

For CoreDefense, the collaboration underscores its vision of democratizing access to world-class cybersecurity through AI and automation.

“Tribease exemplifies the new generation of African tech innovators who understand that resilience and innovation go hand in hand,” said Innocent Paul Ojo, Founder and CEO of CoreDefense. “By integrating our platform into their operations, Tribease now benefits from predictive threat detection, automated remediation, and transparent reporting that builds stakeholder confidence.”

The partnership highlights how emerging-market startups are embracing proactive cybersecurity as a business enabler rather than a compliance checkbox.
With CoreDefense’s platform in place, Tribease aims to expand its services across additional African markets while maintaining strong data-protection and risk-governance standards.
