In 2026, he was named among Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 in the Health & Science category.

Early Life and Education

Ekundayo studied medicine at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, where he developed an interest in the relationship between clinical medicine, technology, and healthcare delivery. During his medical training, he observed how fragmented healthcare systems and overstretched medical professionals could contribute to delays in patient care.

His personal experience of losing his father to cancer following a delayed diagnosis in 2023 further shaped his interest in improving healthcare systems through innovation and better access to timely, coordinated medical services.

Career and Medintech Africa

Ekundayo co-founded Medintech Africa alongside Faridat Musa to bridge the gap between healthcare education and digital innovation. The organisation provides training, workshops, internships, mentorship, and practical opportunities for medical and healthcare students to develop digital health solutions.

Through its programmes, Medintech Africa supports students in areas such as software engineering, data analysis, product design, digital marketing, and product management. The organisation reports a community of more than 1,500 students across multiple countries, with partnerships and internship opportunities designed to connect emerging talent with health technology companies.

Beyond his work at Medintech Africa, Ekundayo has gained experience in healthcare consulting, global health programmes, and investment. His professional experience includes work with INC Consulting Africa and the Clinton Health Access Initiative. He also serves as an Investment Fellow at VestedWorld, supporting companies operating across Africa.

Achievements and Recognition

In 2026, Ekundayo received international recognition through his inclusion in the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 Class of 2026 in the Health & Science category. His work also includes research into Africa’s health technology ecosystem and the publication of a database mapping more than 400 African healthtech startups on Harvard Dataverse.

He has participated in the Africa Digital Health Summit, where he presented work on empowering healthcare students and developing health technology through cross-institutional incubators.
