Mr Eazi began recording music while studying in Ghana. His early releases, including the mixtape About to Blow in 2013, helped introduce his sound to audiences. He gained wider recognition with songs such as Bankulize, featuring Pappy Kojo, and Skin Tight, featuring Efya.
He developed a distinctive sound known as Banku Music, combining elements of Ghanaian highlife, Nigerian musical styles, Afropop and R&B. His relaxed vocals, melodic delivery and cross-cultural influences helped him establish a recognisable identity within the African music industry.
Other notable songs include Leg Over and Pour Me Water. He has also collaborated with international artists, including Beyoncé, Bad Bunny, J Balvin and Major Lazer, extending his presence across global music markets. His debut solo album, The Evil Genius, was released in 2023.
emPawa Africa and Artist Development
One of Mr Eazi’s major contributions to the entertainment technology sector is the establishment of emPawa Africa, a platform designed to support emerging African artists and independent music businesses.
The initiative provides opportunities for talent development, music production, mentorship, distribution and industry exposure. It aims to help African artists build sustainable careers while retaining greater control over their music and creative work.
Through emPawa, Mr Eazi has supported emerging musicians and contributed to the growth of a more accessible music ecosystem. The platform reflects his interest in using digital distribution and business infrastructure to connect African talent with international audiences.
Choplife and Entertainment Technology
Mr Eazi expanded his entrepreneurial activities through Choplife, an entertainment and technology company with interests in music, live events, gaming, sports and intellectual property.
Choplife grew from his music business activities and broader creative ambitions. Its projects include Choplife Soundsystem, a music and performance collective, and Detty Rave, an entertainment festival associated with Accra, Ghana.
In August 2026, Choplife expanded its operations into the Itana Digital Special Economic Zone in Nigeria. The move was reported as part of the company’s plans to develop and scale African creative and technology businesses for international markets.
This expansion reflects the company’s broader focus on organising entertainment, media, gaming and other intellectual-property businesses under a central business structure.
International Recognition and Achievements
Mr Eazi has performed across Africa, Europe and the United States, including appearances at Coachella. His music has received recognition from several international and African award platforms, including the Grammys, MOBO Awards, Trace Awards and The Headies.
His songs have also featured in international entertainment productions, including F1: The Movie and Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Through his music and business ventures, he has continued to build connections between African creative industries and international markets.
Mr Eazi’s journey from a university student and event promoter to an internationally recognised musician and entrepreneur demonstrates the growing relationship between entertainment, technology and business in Africa. Through emPawa Africa, Choplife and his musical career, he has contributed to artist development, digital music distribution and the expansion of African entertainment businesses.
His work continues to highlight opportunities for African creators to use technology, intellectual property and entrepreneurship to reach audiences beyond the continent.
